It’s Big Feature Friday!

Where does the magic happen in discovery?

If you think back to your favorite discovery project, I bet it looks something like this: you, in a room, with a whiteboard, with a smart and engaged client, untangling something gnarly.

For me, this was the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, more than a decade ago, talking about oyster restoration projects.

Not a bad place to do some whiteboarding

The messy, undocumented untangling that you do together isn’t something AI is going to take over anytime soon. But you also don’t start a project there: you read all their SOPs to prep, they fill out long questionnaires and sit through multiple interviews, you send infinite emails back and forth until you get to the gnarly piece that requires that flow-state collaboration.

All that stuff is necessary, but it doesn’t have to take as long as it used to, or be as painful.

At Glossa, we’re making a bet: automate the prep, protect the collaboration.

Clients can do initial intake themselves - upload their documents, answer questions, review requirements - so you start discovery already past the basics.

This week, we’re launching a huge new client portal feature that gets you automated prep. Next, workflow diagrams help you collaborate better once you’re in the room.

What We Shipped This Week & What's Coming Next

This week:

  • Client pre-discovery in the portal - This is going to be a gamechanger, especially for proserv teams.

    • Documents: You can request specific documents from a client (like SOPs, or current-state architecture diagrams) and they can upload those documents in the portal. Then, just like every other file, we automatically generate requirements from those documents and answer questions.

    • Questions: You can mark specific questions client-facing, and clients can review automatically-generated answers from their files, add to them, and answer open questions themselves. If you’ve ever sent an intake questionnaire to a client and wrangled answers via email, this one’s for you!

    • Requirements: Now, when clients are reviewing requirements you’ve sent for review, they have a cleaner view and better search and filtering. They’re going to be living in the portal, so we want to make it feel good.

  • Category improvements - A few experience improvements from your feedback, including making the Categories tab in a project a list view, rather than cards; the ability to turn categories into capabilities; and a more streamlined experience overall.

Coming next:

  • Workflow diagrams - A must-have for complex discovery conversations, and a real pain to build (and keep updated) by hand. Let me know if you want to be a design partner for this.
