Happy Juneteenth!

What We Shipped This Week: Discovery Questions!!

Most of us start a project with a rough sense of what we want to ask. But discovery never goes exactly how you planned it - one offhand comment and suddenly you're deep in a rabbit hole 🐰 . Great SEs, BAs, and architects are good at balancing this: you need breadth to cover everything, and depth to get into the most important things.

Obviously, you can’t go deep and broad on everything or discovery would never end. On the other hand, you can’t miss anything important or it’ll come back and bite you in the form of scope creep and rework. On top of all of that, the surface is unknown by definition - you can't find what you don't know is missing. Whew!

Discovery Questions is built to help you make sure you have both breadth and depth - consistently, across projects. Glossa surfaces the standard questions your team has accumulated across every prior project, marks questions answered automatically, and generates follow-ups to go deeper.

A few things that make it extra special:

  • It learns from all your projects, not just the one you’re working on. Your team’s discovery compounds over time instead of living in individual heads.

  • It's consistent across your team. Every SE and every BA works from the same standard list, drawn from the same shared history.

  • It's auditable. When a BA picks up a project from sales and needs to know what the client said in pre-sales, it's right there - the exact moment, the exact words.

What's Coming Next

Discovery Questions is in beta and we’ll be iterating on it quickly over the next few weeks. So don’t be shy about sharing your feedback!

After that, we’re exploring what client-facing discovery questions could look like. If this is interesting to you, I want to talk to you.

One more thing: I was at the Databricks Data + AI Summit and Rocketlane's PS AI Build Day this week. If we got to say hi in person, it was good to see you - and if we missed each other, reply and tell me where you'll be next so we can fix that.

That's the update. Thanks for being part of this with me!
